Tina Appleby has been a criminal defense attorney for thirty years. Ms. Appleby has been named one of the top 100 Trial Lawyers by the National Trial Lawyers’ Association. She has distinguished herself as one of the premier female attorneys in the State of Minnesota by obtaining jury acquittals, dismissals, and successful resolutions of well over 2000 cases. (These include a murder prosecution with three alleged victims.)
Ms. Appleby also handles traffic violations, assaults, drug prosecutions and sexual offenses throughout the State. She has lived in Ramsey and Washington Counties since the inception of her legal career in 1983. Thus, she may most likely be seen in the courthouses hosting prosecutions for the cities of St. Paul, Maplewood, Oakdale, White Bear Lake, Woodbury, Stillwater, Cottage Grove, Mahtomedi, Dellwood, and surrounding communities.
Ms. Appleby is respected among other attorneys and judges as a zealous advocate in the courtroom. She is frequently asked to present Continuing Legal Education seminars to other attorneys and judges on subjects such as DUI, expungements, and assaults.
Tina Appleby is sensitive to the stress that a criminal prosecution renders upon the accused and their families and appreciates the individual circumstances surrounding each and every case that she takes. It is important to her that at the conclusion of each case, her client knows that she did every possible and reasonable thing to obtain the best outcome. In her career, nothing means more to this lawyer than hearing that her client's life is back on track and that he or she would enthusiastically recommend her services to a friend, acquaintance, or loved one.
One of the past-times Ms. Appleby enjoys is hunting on the family's land in Itasca County. Her enjoyment of the outdoors enables her to understand how devastating it would be for many Minnesota hunters to lose their right to possess a firearm. This can happen upon conviction of a first-time misdemeanor domestic assault incident that did not even involve any physical contact upon the alleged victim. She is concerned that many people do not understand these and other ramifications of pleading guilty just "to get the thing over with". Tina Appleby is often told that she is a "good explainer". She very much enjoys navigating her clients through a system that is often complex and overwhelming, and looks forward to hearing from anyone that is trying to decide whether they need a lawyer. She "tells it like it is", and if one doesn't need a lawyer, she'll tell them that as well.
