Can someone press charges after sending me child pornography
A boy sent naked pics of himself to me and my friends. His parents found out and they want to press charges against us. We didn’t ask him to send them to us. We are 14 years old. Can they do that? And can he get in trouble too?
Answer
Since you are 14 years old, you could be investigated by law enforcement for juvenile delinquency proceedings. How old was the boy who sent naked photos to you and your friends? If he is also under 18 (I’m assuming he likely is), naked photos of him would be considered child pornography. The boy is not at risk of legal trouble for taking naked photos of himself but he could face legal troubles for sending (i.e. disseminating) the images. You and your friends could be in trouble for possessing the photos. It is a very important fact, however, that you did not ask for the photos and the boy sent them to you on his own initiative. This fact, if presented appropriately by an attorney, could help you avoid juvenile delinquency proceedings or minimize penalties should the proceedings move forward.
