Christina Zauhar has practiced exclusively in the area of criminal defense. She is a strong believer in the presumption of innocence and a defendant’s right to a trial. Christina ensures her client’s constitutional rights are protected and that the State will be held to its burden of proof beyond a reasonable doubt.

Christina excels in litigation and has achieved not guilty verdicts or pre-trial dismissals in cases involving criminal sexual conduct, felony assault, domestic assault, violation of a harassment restraining order, malicious punishment of a child, solicitation of a prostitute, and DWI.

Christina spends a significant portion of her practice representing those accused of criminal sexual conduct and is known for her expertise with the “Rape Shield” law. She is co-author of “Minnesota’s Rape Shield Law: A Sword for Prosecutors; A Blow to Defendants’ Constitutional Rights,” an article published by Mitchell Hamline Law Review in 2020. She has presented at numerous legal seminars in the subjects of criminal sexual conduct defense, discrimination in the criminal justice system, expungement law, and DWI law. She is also a contributing author to Minnesota’s DWI Deskbook, having written on the subjects of automobile searches and seizures and ignition interlock. The DWI Deskbook is utilized by judges, prosecutors, and defense attorneys across the state as a comprehensive reference guide to Minnesota DWI laws.

Since 2017, Super Lawyers has annually honored Christina as a Rising Star in Criminal Defense. No more than 2.5 percent of attorneys in Minnesota, under the age of 40 or having been in practice for less than ten years, are named as Rising Stars. In 2017, Minnesota Lawyer Magazine also honored Christina as an Up & Coming Attorney.

In addition to her law degree, Christina obtained a Certificate in Advocacy and Problem Solving, which emphasized alternative dispute resolution coursework in mediation and negotiation. Christina is a diligent, proactive attorney who utilizes a combination of creativity and persistence when advocating for her clients.
